As of March 2014, the Malaysian population has hit 30 million, so more concerted efforts to create a more eco-friendly and sustainable waste management system is much needed. To spearhead this, an MOU has been signed between four entities, E-IDAMAN SDN BHD (592792-H), WONGPANIT MALAYSIA SDN BHD (778297-H), WONGPANIT GARBAGE RECYCLE SEPARATION PLANT THAILAND and AVENION GREENTECH SDN BHD (616314-M) to launch a nationwide Waste Recycling Programme at a community level.

This MOU marks a partnership with the largest recycling company in Thailand, Wongpanit, which will facilitate the transfer of technology and technical know-how to implement a large scale recycling programmes, to be rolled out in phases beginning in the Northern Region of Kedah and Perlis. This programme will see the inception of Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) which will be the vehicles for community outreach programmes in efforts to promote 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) in Malaysia. These MRFs provide monetary incentives to the public who bring in their recyclables. Additionally, a Joint Venture between the Wongpanit entity in Malaysia and Thailand will be setup to facilitate a guaranteed buyback scheme for all recyclables collected from the MRFs.
